Biologic age, a DNA-based estimate of a person’s age, is associated with future development of breast cancer. For every five years a woman’s biologic age was older than her chronologic or actual age, known as age acceleration, she had a 15% increase in her chance of developing breast cancer. 3 Women who lived in areas with higher levels of lead, mercury, and . Genetics is the scientific study of inherited genetics, then, is the scientific study of inherited human variation.. Why study human genetics? One reason is simply an interest in better understanding ourselves. As a branch of genetics, human genetics concerns itself with what most of us consider to be the most interesting species on earth: Homo sapiens. Genetic epidemiology is a relatively new discipline that seeks to elucidate the role of genetic factors and their interaction with environmental factors in the occurrence of disease in populations (Khoury et al., ). The term genetic epidemiology appeared in the literature only recently (Figure).

The genomics revolution has expanded from its origins in molecular biology to impact upon every discipline in the life sciences, including ecology. Several lines of ecological research can now be profitably addressed using genomics technology, including issues of nutrient cycling, population structure, life-history variation, trophic interaction, stress responses, and adaptation to. Sir Ronald Aylmer Fisher FRS (17 February – 29 July ) was a British statistician and his work in statistics, he has been described as "a genius who almost single-handedly created the foundations for modern statistical science" and "the single most important figure in 20th century statistics". In genetics, his work used mathematics to combine Mendelian genetics and Awards: Weldon Memorial Prize (), Royal Medal .

Focusing on the roles of different segments of DNA, Statistics in Human Genetics and Molecular Biology provides a basic understanding of problems arising in the analysis of genetics and genomics. It presents statistical applications in genetic mapping, DNA/protein sequence alignment, and analyses of gene expression data from microarray experiments.

Health is determined by several factors including genetic inheritance, personal behaviors, access to quality health care, and the general external environment (such as the quality of air, water, and housing conditions). In addition, a growing body of research has documented associations between social and cultural factors and health (Berkman and Kawachi, ; Marmot and Wilkinson, ).Cited by: 6.is a cross-disciplinary science, the use of R has appealed to academic researchers in various fields of applied statistics.
